Rumors have spread that he will take over as a policy director on the PGA Tour instead of Webb Simpson (USA).
McIlroy became a policy director in 2022 and resigned last year after news of the merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

McIlroy's return to the PGA Tour policy director was reportedly canceled due to opposition from many players.
Even Tiger Woods (USA), who always worked well with McIlroy, opposed McIlroy's return to the board, the Telegraph reported.
"There are some people who are uncomfortable with me coming back for some reason. Things have become quite complicated and messy, and old wounds and scars have been revealed," McIlroy said, without hiding his discomfort.
